It is said that San Lorenzo, along with Chandrexa, has the oldest church in the area. Several legends connect both parishes to San Vitor Necropolis, hiding a background of historical processes that date back to the times of the organization of the present parish network back in the 12th century

Walking along its narrow streets we come accross beautiful corners, old stones and breathtaking views of the Sil and Mao valleys. We offer an alternative route, parallel to PR-G 177, which goes through the natural and archaeological landmarks along 2,400m of the west bank of the river Mao.

The route along this path has its very own natural richness and interesting landscape, going through forests of indigenous vegetation and overlooking the canyon of the river Mao. There are also outstanding archaeological and cultural resources that have become well-known in the last  few years and attract many curious visitors since the archaeological works began in San Vitor in 2010.

As well as San Vitor Necropolis, major cultural attraction in this part of the council which we will describe later,  there are other parts and places related to it, such as San Miguel, Los Padrós, San Salvador, Pena Larga and San Lourenzo itself, and the Old Canal and the Pena de la Espada.

Other places such as the Cazafón waterfall or the Meder thickets are very impotant because of their beautiful landscape.
